    Curiously, I just created a test project myself to test the behavior.

    The way I understand you, I cannot confirm this.

    Please have a look how I did it.

    So after testing wayyyy longer than it should've taken me, turns out the issue was printing the contents of two structs who reference each other directly.

    It was causing a loop when show_debug_message was trying to expand the parent's child struct and inside of that the child struct was trying to expand the parent struct.

    PEBKAC, ID-10-T error. Sorry.
