    Hello

I have replicated your issue and discovered that our newer internal builds do not handle this project well. I have logged an issue in the database and this will be investigated.

Unfortunately until someone looks into the cause I cannot suggest an easy remedy to return the content. With the content still available on disk, however, it is encouraging and you should be able to manually import each file.

    Regards

Hi, I just experienced first time Asset Browser bug, where imported (2.2 to 2.3) project assets do not show in Asset Browser.

I managed to fix it by closing Asset Browser and using 'Reset Layout' in top bar.

So, if anyone else experience issue, I would recommend trying this Resetting Layout. I am not sure does closing Asset Browser have any effect. Also I am not sure does this help in all cases, but atleast might be helpful to try. Hopefully this also gives a lead for the actual issue to be fixed.

Additionally if you blow the default structure away and use your own, put different asset types in the same directory, etc... it goes absolutely crazy. Files not showing in the Asset Browser but still usable in your game, de-parenting of folders, etc. The Asset Browser definitely needs some attention still.

I'm glad you were able to replicate the issue.  I really thought someone had previously reported this but I'm glad I reported it since it seems that wasn't the case.  That said, when I import things(using "Add Existing" from the menu, I get the green arrow cursor which makes it look like it would be successful...but it isn't adding them to the assets.  I'm guessing it may be because the asset is already in the project...except when I delete it from the folder and then try to re-add it it still isn't working.

That fix did not work for me.  I can confirm though that the 2 scripts that ARE still showing in the browser are new ones I made here in 2.3, while most of the other resources that disappeared came from importing from the previous version.  So I think we are on the right track here.

I did in fact remove all of the default folder structure, and that seems to be what has caused the issue.  I can also mention that assets that I created in 2.3 are also missing from the browser(like an anim curve).  So it isn't limited to just resources imported from 2.25.

Nathan Dudding We have had no other reports of mixing assets in the folder structure causing issues within the Asset Browser. Nor do we see this behaviour internally.

Can you please report it on this forum in a new thread, provide a simple sample and reproduction steps.

    Thank you

I am attempting to recreate the issue so I can provide an example. It has only ever happened in projects where I delete the entire default structure and start building out my own. Two different scenarios after that have been mixing assets in bottom level directories, and also when using a directory that previously belonged in the default structure (eg. Delete the entire default structure, create a new top level directory, re-add a "Sprites" directory).

I will continue to try to replicate the issue, but it is fairly evasive (But when it happens it renders the project unusable since everything continuously gets jammed at top level, and half the assets don't even show up in the structure).

I can confirm that my issue seems to have been fixed in 23.1.1.141.  Not only are the assets all back showing in my asset browser, but they seem to also be in the same folders that they were in before.  That's good news for me!  I haven't done any extensive testing to see if things would disappear again, but if they do, I'll re-reply here accordingly.

I am having a similar issue in Runtime v23.1.1.146/IDE v23.1.1.157, on project opening all the assets are gone from the asset browser, including any script resources. Assets can still be seen in "Recent Windows", and I can access the assets by clicking those that show up in recent windows. However I can't search for any assets using "ctrl+t" and I am not able to run the project. The Compiler gives no errors and simply fails when I click the "run" or "debug" buttons. I am also not able to open the "Game Settings", as when the button is pushed it simply gives no output. On top of this I am unable to create any new assets.

    EDIT

I managed to fix the issue, at some point the options_main.yy file became corrupted and unreachable/unfindable. To fix it i created an empty GML project and used notepad++ to copy-paste the text from the new options_main.yy into the old one. The Asset browser then loaded up correctly on next startup. There might be an issue with random Assets/Options becoming corrupted? Although I managed to fix my issue
