We've created two new video tutorials that enable you to create games step-by-step, using either Drag and Drop, or GML code.
This is the ideal place to start, as it includes an introduction to the GameMaker IDE in both tutorials. With these videos, you can build a functional "Asteroids" style game in around 40 minutes. You can find Space Rocks on our blog.
The second is a "Break Out" style game, which also has Drag and Drop, and GML variants, and shows you how to make the game in around an hour. You can also find Breakthrough on our blog
GameMaker Learning Hub
We have also added a lot more tutorial content to our new Learn Page, that you can use in class!
This includes our video tutorials and third party tutorials that show you how to make entire games and take you through aspects of game design. We also have written tutorials and links to all our resources
GameMaker Tech Blog
We regularly add blog articles from our top developers and our own team. These include step by step guides and cover some of the technical and design challenges they encountered in making specific games. These can be a really engaging way to learn about game design. Read the blog here.
