GM:S 1.X Discontinued - FAQ

While GameMaker: Studio 1.x will continue to be fully supported until 31st July 2018, sales of GameMaker: Studio 1.X have now ended. If you already own GameMaker: Studio 1.X, you can still download it from the Licences page of your YoYo Account but you will no longer be able to buy it, upgrade it nor create a new license for the Free version.

If I buy GameMaker Studio 2 do I get a version of GM:S 1.X?

No, GameMaker Studio 1.4 is no longer available and new customers no longer get a version when buying GameMaker Studio 2.


Can I still buy GM:S 1.X or any 1.X export modules?

There is no further official means to buy GameMaker: Studio 1.X or any of its export modules.


Can I access the Free version of GameMaker: Studio 1.X?

If you already own GameMaker: Studio 1.X, you can still access the software but no new user will be able to access GameMaker: Studio.


Are YoYo Games continuing to support GameMaker: Studio 1.X?

On 31st July 2018, we ended support for all GameMaker: Studio 1.X issues as laid out in this GameMaker: Studio 1.4 Sunset blog post (posted on June 8th 2017). The final release of GameMaker: Studio (1.4.9999) is now available on the beta channel, which along with some bug fixes, removes some online connectivity in the IDE (details can be found on our Release Notes page). For information on how to switch to the Beta channel, please refer to our Updating GameMaker: Studio article. With this release, the software will be moved into a legacy state and no further fixes/changes will be added. While you are welcome to continue using the software, we cannot guarantee future module compatibility following any platform updates by third-parties.
