This article is a step-by-step guide on how to get started with the free GameMaker Studio 2 Trial Licence.
Step One: Sign Up For A YoYo Account
If you already have a YoYo Account, you can simply sign in to the website and move on to Step Two.
To get started using GameMaker Studio 2 Trial you will first have to create a YoYo Account. This account will be where you complete the sign up process for a Trial Licence (further licences are available for purchase too) and is also your gateway to other YoYo Games features, like the Marketplace. To find out how to set up a YoYo Account, please see this article here: Creating A YoYo Account.
Once you have created your account, you will be sent a confirmation email, and once you have confirmed the account details, you will be automatically granted a free, 30 day Trial Licence to use GameMaker Studio 2.
Now you can sign in and move on to Step Two.
Step Two: Getting The Trial Version
Once you have signed in to the YoYo Account, you need to go to the Downloads section (from the user menu on the left).
This will present you with the page that contains download links for both the PC and Mac versions of the GameMaker Studio 2 IDE.
Step Three: Login
Once you have downloaded GameMaker Studio 2 and installed it, you will have to log in to the product using the username and password details that you supplied when you created your YoYo Account:
Once you have logged in, your build tools will be downloaded and then you can then start using GameMaker Studio 2!
Please be aware that the Trial licence lasts for 30 days and does have some limitations - these are listed in our Help Article GameMaker Studio 2 Trial Limitations.
